Description
The image of St. Francis of Assisi represents the founding saint of the Franciscan order (1182-1226), and principal of the Brotherhood. Certainly San Francisco was a personage who, even in life, had become a kind of living relic, such was the fame he achieved in the Italy of the thirteenth century, and which had as the immediate consequence being canonizated in 1228, only two years after his death.
